WOMEN IN BLACK (series)

Women in Black started out as a doodle, and ended up getting me back into illustration. The purpose of the project was to reduce the female form to a silhouette, forcing the figure to stand out with fashion and outline alone.

Over time, the series has taken on a very "iconic" and symbolic feel. Detail and texture was sacrificed for perfecting anatomic detail and experimenting with color. I still feel like these images, simple as they are, are among some of my best work. This was originally slated to be a series of nine pieces - the other two are works in progress.
